t moderate to severe melasma. It is used to lighten the skin tone or appearance, especially when there is dark pigmentation. Melasma is a skin condition that causes dark and discoloured patches on the skin. Hydroquinone+Mometasone+Tretinoin is available in the form of cream, gel, ointment, soap.
Uses of Hydroquinone+Mometasone+Tretinoin
- Hydroquinone+Mometasone+Tretinoin is used for the short-term treatment of moderate-to-severe melasma (dark and discoloured patches on the skin).
- It is also used to lighten the skin tone or appearance and dark spots or age spots in older people due to exposure to the sun.
Contraindications of Hydroquinone+Mometasone+Tretinoin
When should one not use Hydroquinone+Mometasone+Tretinoin
- If you are allergic to hydroquinone, mometasone, tretinoin or similar medicines.
- If you have a skin tumour or a family history of skin tumour.
- If you suffer from any skin conditions like eczema (infected skin due to allergy), rosacea (small red pustules on the face), rashes around the mouth or damaged skin anywhere in the body.
- If you need to be exposed to the sun for prolonged periods.
- If you have any viral or fungal infections of the skin, have ulcers on the skin or are having tuberculosis.

Mode of Action of Hydroquinone+Mometasone+Tretinoin
How Does It Work?
- Hydroquinone works by inhibiting an enzyme (tyrosinase) responsible for producing a pigment called melanin. Melanin is responsible for skin pigmentation and melasma.
- Tretinoin is a metabolite of vitamin A and has anti-inflammatory properties. It is responsible for the elimination of melanin that has been formed.
- Mometasone is a steroid and works by blocking the production of inflammatory chemicals like prostaglandins and leukotrienes. Mometasone narrows and constricts blood vessels, which are dilated (widened) and leaky and allowing other inflammatory cells into the skin to promote the inflammatory response....
